Crystal Sequoia Restoration Trip, California

Every year there is a trip to Crystal Seqouia cave to haul out rubble and perform other manual labor in order to undo the damage caused by the years of tourists coming in and out, as well as the original construction, which used a lot of concrete. The restorations goal is to restore parts of the cave so that cave biology can thrive. Crystal Sequoia is an excellent cave for children and tourists because there is a paved walkway, high ceilings, and built-in lights. Despite the tourist elements there are many beautiful natural features to the cave. There is also a "wild" portion of the cave that is undeveloped. Noteworthy features of the cave include several large cave pearls (on the tourist trip), and gorgeous "soda straws" (on the wild trip).
